Son or Servant?
John 15:15 says:
“I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master's business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.”
I sat there in wonder after the Pastor dropped this verse on Sunday.
It appeared so fresh in my spirit, and I knew the Holy Spirit wanted me to grasp it.
“I no longer call you servants…”
Wow.
The Bible says He gave us the right to become sons and daughters. We have received the Spirit of adoption, whereby we call God Father (John 1:12 & Romans 8:15)
And the only reason this is possible is because of the sacrifice of our Lord Jesus Christ. That is why the Bible now acknowledges us as royalty.
Because our Father is God.
And if I am His child, then I am also an heir. So I started thinking…What are the rights and privileges of an heir? What are my privileges as a child of God?
Do I actually get to inherit what my Father has?
His righteousness.
His grace.
His mercy.
His love.
His abundance.
His goodness.
HIS PROMISES are mine.
His will is that I prosper even as my soul prospers. And it made me ask myself: What have I been living as?
A son or a servant?
We are called to serve God, absolutely. But we don't serve to become His children. We serve because we are His children.
